Project 1 Use of music - Legal Considerations

Publishing rights is when a person owns the copyright of the lyrics and composition and Recording licence is when a band or someone has performed the version of a song that you want to use in your Film or Tv show. If you want to use a certain piece of music you have to ask the publisher of the music to see who owns the music, it is very rare that the artist actually owns the piece of music. When you want to use a pice of music and the artist is dead for more than 70 years the copyright has probably expired. Incidental music refers to mainly background music that is not intended to be used in the scene, unless the music is intended on being used in the scene it is incidental music.

I choose the piece of music because I wanted a steady repetitive beat to go over the video and I think the piece of music I choose fits the film well and works very effectively.
