Project 1 Research into Recording Ambient Sounds and Dialogue

Ambient Sound
Ambient sound is sound that fills the background of a scene it can be recorded while filming the scene or added in afterwords. It is mainly used to add more depth and surroundings to the scene they can range from parsing cars, singing birds or people talking. Its better to get the ambient sound while you are filming the scene so it fits in more naturally and fits in better than finding sounds to match the scene, but its good to have a mix of both recorded ambient sound and sound effects to flesh out the scene more.

Recording Dialogue
The best way to record dialogue is while on set with the actors and have a microphone and attach it to a boom microphone stand and place above the actors and out of frame to get the best possible audio another way to record the dialogue if you have a dslr camera is to attach a mike on top of it and point it towards the actors. Its also good to record the scene multiple times to make sure that the dialogue is easy to understand and that it isn't muffled by background sounds. If you record the audio separately and add it in to your footage afterwards its a lot harder to get the audio to fit the footage exactly and to get a clean lip sync with the footage. Its good to have ambient sound while recording so that it fills the scene in more and gives it more depth to the scene and its also good so that the audio levels are the same and that the audio levels of the dialogue is higher than the ambient sound levels.
